Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Collins (born in Mexico) is an Mexican American journalist. She anchors SportsNation and serves as a SportsCenter anchor. In 2016, she joined ESPN. She is the daughter of the TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins was a bilingual since she was nine years old. It was a helpful ability that allowed her to secure her first position working as an assistant to the producer at Univision in Miami and gave her the chance to be a part of the production team for national shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. In St. Petersburg, she was then employed as a reporter by the CBS station as an sports reporter. In 2009, she relocated in Rio Grande Valley to work as a journalist for KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. Covering stories on the issue of immigration and drug trafficking from both sides of Mexico-Texas border, she worked as a reporter for five minutes of the p.m. Spanish newscast a reporter and later anchor of news at 9 p.m. news in English and also another reporter for the 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. The duties of anchoring for weather or sports were often requested. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallasthe affiliate of Univision Dallas, and she has more responsibility. She reported on the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. She also produced Univision 23's local sports program Accion Deportiva Extra, on which she acted as anchor. She was appointed as the anchor for sports for Despierta America Deportes for their morning program. In the same capacity she was employed by Primer Impacto (a network magazine) and Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports program). Antonietta Collins was a native of Veracruz, Mexico. Her birth date was November 22nd on the 22nd of October, 1985, in Mexico City. Also, she has an older sibling. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico to the US and settled in Miami. In 1992, her parents separated and shortly afterward in 1995 she remarried Fabio Fajardo who was a naval engineer who passed away in 2006 after suffering from kidney cancer. On a family vacation in Ohio, the young Collins took a place along with her sister. Antonietta had just graduated high school but already knew her plans for what she would accomplish. It was a beautiful campus and offered the degree she wanted. Her studies were completed and she was accepted to the University for a master's degree of media studies. Mark Bergmann was her professor and the manager of WRMU and WRMU, which she's a part. They formed a strong relationship. Mark Bergmann inspired her to be self-confident and his passion for journalism deeply influenced her. She was determined to meet his expectations and never failed him.
